Kite surfer recovery

A kite surfer was becalmed between Sandown Castle and Sandwich Bay estate, with no way of getting back to the shore. The relief lifeboat The Doris and Harry was launched to recover man and equipment. Although the kite provided considerable buoyancy the surfer was suffering from beening in the water for some time. Also in attendance was Ramsgate's Atlantic Bob Turnbull was also in attendance and can be seen in the photographs to the left.
