Relief Lifeboat the Doris and Harry was in demand with 3 services in a single 24 hour period. The first was at 15.07 hrs on Tuesday, 9th September, a second less than an hour later and a final call out at 07.02 hrs on Wednesday, 10th September. For this brief period Walmer was one of the busiest stations in the RNLI.
The first service was for a canoeist separated from his canoe near Deal pier, the second for a kite surfer at Sandwich Bay estate and the final service was to retrieve a small boat set adrift from the beach at Walmer. The first service was perhaps the most serious with the individual being in the water for some considerable time before being spotted by members of the general public.
