The latest training, social and other events organised by the station and its supporters.
The much anticipated bobcat arrived at Walmer on Friday 8th May. Nominated bobcat drivers amongst the shore crew were trained on the new equipment on Friday and Sunday. The bobcat was very well received by the drivers. A new trailer will complete the configuration at a later date allowing the D class to be launched in much the same way as the larger Atlantic 85 lifeboat is today. In the meantime the bobcat will deliver the D class stern first to the waters edge were it will be removed from the trailer as before by lifeboat crew and shorehelpers.
Earlier in May relief lifeboat Atlantic 85 Douglas Murray arrived on station to replace B 808 Donald Mclaughlan whilst undergoing repairs. B 830 features a number of modfications to Walmer's regular lifeboat, most striking is a new design of bag frame and mast.
The lifeboat was bequest to the RNLI by Mr William Douglas Murray of Bridport, Dorset.
